Blue Mountain Endeavor is a big hairy donkey that has blossomed into a gentle giant.   He came to live at Kingma Farm in Grangeville, Idaho as a bratty two year old.   Researching Dev’s heritage taught us about his famous ancestors, the history of donkeys in America and family members living around the globe.

Dev’s driving debut happened at Montana’s State Fair August 2005.   He spent nine days driving the grounds and introducing folks to the world of mammoth donkeys.  In June 2006 he was pinned the Grand Champion Halter Donkey of Montana Mule Days.

This past summer he explored cool forest trails as a riding donkey.   He crossed bridges, picked his way carefully over rocky hillsides and thru downed timber.   Dev is gaited making him a double pleasure to ride.

August found him hitched with his pasture mate.   Right from the start we could tell Dev liked teamwork. Our dream of a mammoth donkey driving team had become reality.

Hells Canyon Mule Days at Enterprise, Oregon is where Dev stepped into the spotlight.   It was his first show to get out and shine.   Besides halter, showmanship, riding and driving classes Dev had an important job.   It was his first parade and grand entry plus he would be driving the honorary grand marshal, Jerry Perren.   He was unconcerned by it all and performed his tasks perfectly.   To top it off he won the pleasure driving class, and was the show’s Reserve High Point donkey, this guy is going places!

Dev Photo Contest

Photo of the Day Winner March 24, 2006

This is a great site to check daily for photos and vote for your favorite equus asinus, the donkey, or equine horse picture.

Luc managed to “steal/borrow” a small rubber feed dish to play with and Dev just had to join in. They looked like a couple of street beggars, “Mister, can ya spare a dime?” We sent this photo in just for fun.

We also sent it to Liberty, in Washington State, to show him the boys had plenty of room to join them in donkey boy games.

The day this photo was displayed to be voted on was the same day we left for the Olympic Peninsula to bring Liberty to Idaho. We did not even know we had won until we checked the site a couple of days later. What a delightful homecoming!
